전 2권으로 엮인 이번 시집에는 모두 77편의 시가 수록됐다. 올해 희수(喜壽)를 맞은 77세의 시인이 자신의 삶과 문학을 기념하며 77편의 작품을 두 권으로 나누어 동시에 출간한 것은 이번 시집이 갖는 또 하나의 특별한 의미다. 숫자 77은 단순한 나이를 넘어 한평생 축적된 사유와 성찰이 응축된 문학적 결실을 상징한다.

하늘 향해 기도하듯 벽을 쌓던 사람.
바로크도 고딕도 뛰어넘어
당신은 오직 ‘가우디’였고
온 누리는 그 이름 앞에
양식을 접었습니다.

당신이 다 완성하지 못한 그 성전은
즈믄 해의 손들이 당신의 혼을 이어

거리의 전차에 스러졌던 그날,
당신은 작게 떠났으나

100해가 지난 오늘, 누리 사람들은

You
were not an architect;
you
were a priest who built the scriptures of light and life.
A man who built a wall
as if praying to the sky,
placing the breath of the wind on lime and sand and
setting the time of the tree on each pillar.
Beyond Baroque and Gothic,
you were only ‘Gaudi’, and the
whole world folded its forms
before that name.
Sagrada Familia.
The temple you never completed
is still growing into heaven, with the hands of a thousand
years carrying your soul.
The day
you were struck down by a streetcar on the street.
You left small, but your dream never died.
Today, a hundred years later,
people still look up at your
ceiling and feel awe.
You who designed the
God with bricks and stars, spirals and sunbeams.
You are a hymn built of stone.
Gaudi, Oracion escrita en curvas
-Dedicado al centenario de su muerte
No eras un arquitecto;
eras un sacerdote que
construyo las escrituras de
luz y vida.
Un hombre que construyoun
muro como si rezara al cielo,
colocando el soplo del viento sobre cal y arena y
marcando el tiempo del arbol en cada pilar.
Mas alla del Barroco y del Gotico,
solo eras ‘Gaudi’, y el
mundo entero plegaba sus formas
ante ese nombre.
Sagrada Familia.
Ese templo que nunca terminaste, las
manos de mil anos han llevado tu alma, y
aun ahora crece hacia el cielo.
El dia que te atropelloun tranvia en la calle.
Te fuiste pequeno,
pero tu sueno nunca murio.
Hoy, cien anos despues, la gente
todavia mira su techo y
siente asombro.
Tu que disenaste el Dios con
ladrillos y estrellas, espirales y rayos de sol.

높[北]극곰의 슬픔
희미한 저 멀리서
처어~ 처 첨벙 !
무너지고 부서지는
천지를 찢어놓는 빙하 뫼의 굉음 소리에다
철모르고 가파르게 오르는 기온으로
육중하지만
그래도 성큼성큼 둔하지 않았던
곰 어미의 몸놀림이
점점 더 무뎌져 버리고
자기의 가슴 속도
자꾸만 무너지고 부서지고 뜨거워 감에도
여전히 뒤따라오는 귀여운 새끼 두 마리에
연신 애잔한 사랑의 젖은 눈길을 던지면서도
더워진 한숨을 그토록 더욱
느리게 몰아서 쉬는 것은
아직껏 살아온
바로 밑의 정든 얼음집이
뿌지직 금이 가고 어느새 조각들로 떠돌고 있으니
오늘의 삶도
시퍼렇게 두려워 잠시도 버거운데
아무 철모르는 새끼들의 삶 저 앞날이
어떻게 될지 몹시도 더더욱 걱정되어서 일깨다.
The Sorrow of the Polar Bears
From a faint distance,
thud!
The roar of the glacial mountain tearing apart the world,
collapsing and crumbling,
and the temperature rising steeply without warning.
The movements of the mother bear,
who was heavy
but not slow,
became increasingly dull.
Even though her heart was constantly breaking, shattering, and growing hotter,
she still cast sad, wet gazes of love at the two cute puppies
that followed her,
and she took a deep breath,
which had become hotter,
even more slowly.
The beloved ice house right below
where she lived until now
has cracked and is now floating in pieces.
Even today’s life is so scary that it’s burdensome for her
even for a moment, but she is even more worried about
what the future will be like for those little kids
who don’t know anything.
Tristeza de los osos polares
A lo lejos,
¡un chapoteo!
El rugido de la montana glacial destrozando el mundo,
derrumbandose y rompiendose,
y la temperatura subiendo abruptamente sin previo aviso.
Los movimientos de la madre osa,
que eran pesados
pero no lentos,
se fueron haciendo cada vez mas aburridas.
Aunque su corazon se rompia constantemente,
se hacia anicos y se calentaba cada vez mas,
seguia lanzando miradas tristes y humedas de amor a los
dos lindos cachorros que lo seguian, y respiro hondo,
que se habia vuelto mas caliente,
incluso mas lentamente.
La querida casa de hielo justo debajo
de donde vivia hasta ahora
se ha agrietado y ahora esta flotando en pedazos.
Incluso la vida de hoy
es tan aterradora que es una carga para ella incluso por un momento,
pero estaaun mas preocupada por como sera el futuro de esos
ninos pequenos que no saben nada.
제잡이
수 세기 동안 진행된
퇴행적인 암흑시대를 만회하기 위하여
하늬[西]유럽 사람들은 밤을 새우는 끈질긴 고심하던 끝에
영국에서부터 새로운 문명을 만들어내게 되나니
바야흐로 사람들에게 끝없는 희망을 주게 된 산업혁명이란 것.
예전에 볼 수 없었던 크나큰 집단방적기 등
새로운 기계들이 일손 대신으로 휘돌아가고
곳곳의 굴뚝들에서 하늘 높이 피어나는 검은 연기를 보고는
그들은 누구나 절대가멸[富]의 상징이라며 도시에 모여들어
행복한 파안대소에다 흥겨운 마이다스 축가를 우쭐대며 불러댔으니
달콤한 자본의 마술에 끌려 누리에 없었던 꿈속을 거닐었던 겁니다.
그러면서 2세기여의 세월이 흐르자 새로운 축지법의 장본인인
자동차들의 수많은 배기가스, 공장들의 검은 연기와 폐수는
푸른 하늘 아래 맑은 공기로 숨 쉬면서 한가로이 살아온 착한
이 땅별사람들의 몸과 삶을 무차별적으로 몹시도 괴롭히는
생각지도 못한 무서운 공해로 돌변하고 말았습니다.
이는, 자기들의 유럽은 물론
그 밖의 온 땅별을 너무나 몹쓸 땅으로 바꾸어놓은
정말 흉측한 제잡이가 되고 만 것.
얼룩진 산업혁명의 뒤안길에 허무하게 머물게 되니
이제, 그 그늘에서 어서들 빠져나와야 한다고 이 땅별마을에
언제부턴가 속절없는 공허한 메아리가 잼처 흘러나오고 있으니….
The Transformation of Zeus, the Supreme God
Among the gods who never get old or die, eating ambrosia and drinking
nectar every day, Zeus was the supreme god, so he could do whatever he
wanted, and the people of the mundane world and even the gods in the sky
were speechless about this.
That’s why he only see beautiful women.
Unable to suppress his burning desire, he transformed himself into a swan and conquered Leda, the young queen of Sparta. He transformed himself into light and had sex with Danae and gave birth to Perseus. He also took advantage of Amphitryon’s absence to transform into her husband Amphitryon and gave birth to Heracles from Alcmene, the hero whom his wife Hera hated so much. Sometimes he transformed into a bull, and sometimes into rain, etc., and he did such things even though the chaste Hera, who vied in beauty with Aphrodite and Athena, was right by his side.
But, these days, perhaps because of the worsening climate change or because he was exhausted from the heat, a heavy black polar bear crawled onto an island near the sea where sea lions were resting and bit and hung on to a nearby sea lion, causing a commotion and creating a storm in the world. How could such a strange and cruel phenomenon has appeared on this star of earth?
Is it because he has lost his mind that he is triggered by a wicked possessive desire to possess even one? Furthermore, is this the last self-destructive measure to create a justification for his decades-long rule? If he is pretending to make Zeus, the supreme god that he makes his own with lust, his ruler, a polar bear, his own with a wicked possessive desire, then he has committed an act that goes beyond his station as a mere human, not a god. Therefore, the god will surely punish him from somewhere, and only a miserable abyss awaits him in the end….

Para superar la regresiva Edad Oscura que habia durado siglos.
Los europeos occidentales, despues de persistentes luchas nocturnas,
crearon una nueva civilizacion que
comenzo en Inglaterra.
Esta fue la Revolucion Industrial que dio a la gente una esperanza infinita.
Al ver nuevas maquinas, como las enormes maquinas de hilar nunca antes vistas
girando en lugar de trabajadores y el humo negro elevandose hacia el cielo
desde chimeneas aqui y alla, todos acudieron en masa a la ciudad, llamandola un simbolo de riqueza absoluta, y cantaron el himno de Midas, con alegria y risa,
como si estuvieran vagando en un sueno que nunca antes habia existido en el
mundo, atraidos por la dulce magia del capital.
Mientras tanto, al pasar mas de dos siglos, los gases de escape de innumerables automoviles, que eran los principales culpables del nuevo metodo de reduccion de la tierra, y el humo negro y las aguas residuales de las fabricas, se convirtieron repentinamente en una contaminacion publica inimaginable y aterradora que atormenta indiscriminada y severamente los cuerpos y las vidas de los buenos habitantes en esta estrella terrestre que vivian tranquilamente, respirando aire limpio bajo el cielo azul
Esto termino convirtiendose en un jejabi verdaderamente horrible que ha convertido
no solo a su propia Europa, sino tambien al resto de la estrella terrestre en una
tierra verdaderamente horrible.
Diciendonos que debemos salir rapidamente de la sombra, ya que estamos atrapados en la retaguardia de la manchada revolucion industrial. Algun dia, ecos inutilmente vacios han estado fluyendo continuamente sobre esta comunidad global….
